Birth announcement
Congratulations to Scott and Rebecca Dobson on the birth of their first child, a son, Owen Robert Dobson, who was born Aug. 31. He weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 21 inches long. Scott, a Ray-Pec graduate, is the Maintenance Supervisor in the Ray-Pec Buildings and Grounds Department. Rebecca, also a Ray-Pec graduate, is a teacher in the Raytown School District. Owen is the grandson of Larry and Mary Dobson and Robert and Juline Norman. Larry is a former teacher, counselor and school board member. Mary retired from Ray-Pec as the library media specialist at Ray-Pec High School. Juline is a teacher at Creekmoor Elementary School.

Sympathy
Sympathy is extended to John Wilson on the death of his mother Shirley Ann Wilson Finlay, 84, of Sedalia, who passed away Aug. 31. The visitation is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 2, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Ewing Vocational Center or Crossroads Hospice. Wilson is the band director at Ray-Pec High School. Congratulations to Jacob and Angela Schulze on the birth of their daughter, Ayla Suzette, on Aug. 25. She weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 21 inches long. Angela is the Focus Facilitator at Shull Elementary. Proud Grandma Amy Harrell is a paraprofessional at Shull. Uncle Jairus Harrell works for the Buildings and Grounds Department.
