Foundation awards additional $500 grant to each school
Grant award
The Raymore-Peculiar Public School Foundation is providing an additional $500 grant to each school in the District. The funds were raised during the Foundation's annual gala.

Schools may opt to use the money for projects or programs in these areas: robotics, 3-D printing, recording studio, Makerspace, science experiments, or the performing arts.

The Foundation's Board of Directors visited some schools on May 12 to begin presenting the grant awards.

Prize Patrol
The Raymore-Peculiar Public School Foundation prize patrol on Feb. 24 awarded $5,030 in Foundation Impact Grants. There were 11 grant awards in 10 schools. Led by Foundation President Phil Parke, Foundation Executive Director Jodie Huston, and Secretary/Treasurer Pam Steele, the group surprised teachers with presentations of oversized checks. Also participating in the prize patrol were these Foundation board members: Allison Bruflat and Kim York. The Foundation invited Ray-Pec staff members to apply for grants of up to $500 to be used this school year. A committee selected the recipients.

Fishing gear

The Foundation awarded $500 to Teacher Tara Kelley at Bridle Ridge Intermediate School for the purchase of saucer chairs and other alternate seating.

Hands-on materials
Congratulations!
Kindergarten teachers at Creekmoor Elementary School were excited to hear of the funding of their grant request. The teachers received $500 to purchase hands-on interactive materials for enrichment in social studies, math, and English language arts. Foundation President Phil Parke informs Teacher Jennifer Joiner that she is receiving a grant of $490 to purchase pasta-making equipment. Joiner teaches Family And Consumer Sciences at Ray-Pec High School. Making pasta is a skill in the ProStart Culinary class.

Playaway devices
Congratulations!
The Foundation awarded $480 to Nikki Brewer, Library Media Specialist at Ray-Pec East Middle School, for the purchase of Playaway devices for the library. The Playaway is a pre-recorded audio player device that allows students to read a book while hearing it aloud. Brewer was attending a meeting in another building when the Prize Patrol stopped by, so the award was presented to Library Media Assistant Barb Proctor and Valencia Webster.

Swimming program

Bobbi Bond and Tracy Elliott were thrilled to learn of their $360 grant which will allow the Life Skills students at Ray-Pec East Middle School to participate in an eight-week swimming program.

Social skills program
Congratulations!
The Foundation awarded $480 to Special Education Teacher Elizabeth Bundy to purchase items to support the social skills program in the primary classroom at Stonegate Elementary School.

Recording studio microphone
Congratulations!
A $240 grant from the Foundation will allow Digital Learning Teacher Melissa Kelch to purchase a recording studio microphone. Kelch has transformed a portion of her classroom into an area for students to learn and practice technology skills, including the recording of daily announcements.

Art field trip

The Foundation awarded $500 to High School Art Teacher Stephanie Pugh to take students on a field trip to see the DaVinci exhibit at Union Station.

Pugh was unavailable when the Prize Patrol came to visit, so Art Teacher Laura Richardson, Fine Arts Department Chair, accepted the award on her behalf.
