In 2010, the district opened Ray-Pec East Middle School on M-58 east of Raymore. Originally intended to serve as a second middle school, East Middle School ultimately opened as the sole middle school to serve the district’s students in grades 7-8. The former middle school on the main campus became a second building for Ray-Pec High School. In April 2016, voters approved a $27 million bond issue to address space needs throughout the District.
A major part of the plan was to build an addition onto Ray-Pec High School south building so the building could accommodate all students in grades 9-12 beginning in 2017. The District approved a plan to change the grade configurations for the 2017-2018 school year. The plan included two middle schools for grades 6-8 (Ray-Pec East Middle School and Ray-Pec South Middle School)
