Summer School 2020

Summer School Calendar

June Summer School is June 3 to June 30 and is completely virtual.  

The district plans to offer an in-person summer school session from July 6 to July 30.

Students register in the grade level they will enter for the 2020-2021 school year. Summer School is open to all students.

June 3 to 30 Information

All summer school in June will be virtual. During June, we are not offering online classes for incoming Kindergarten students.

Incoming Grades 1-5 Program highlights include:

  • 6 hours daily teacher-supported programming
  • ELA, Math, Science & Social Studies standards
  • Related arts and physical activity content
  • Virtual field trips and digital badges
  • Adaptive software access

  • Trainees (1st Grade)
  • Foresters (2nd Grade)
  • Explorers (3rd Grade)
  • Junior Rangers (4th Grade)
  • Senior Rangers (5th Grade)

Course Descriptions

  • Elective and core high school course for credit toward graduation

  • Students may take a total of 3 courses in the summer (combination of both June and July)

High School Summer School Course List

July Summer School Session (July 6 to 30)

We hope to offer an in-person summer school session in July that will look similar to Summer School of June 2019.

Summer School is open to all students, but if your student needs additional remediation, you will be notified by your child’s school. 

Students entering grades K-5 will attend summer school from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

 

Elementary Summer School July Session: 

  • Bridle Ridge Elementary (for students in the Bridle Ridge and Peculiar Elementary attendance areas)
  • Creekmoor Elementary (for students in the Creekmoor and Timber Creek attendance areas)
  • Eagle Glen Elementary
  • Raymore Elementary (for students in the Raymore Elementary and Stonegate attendance areas)

Students entering grades K-5 will attend class from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The four-week Summer School is structured with two-week (eight-day) thematic units. A student may register for two weeks or four weeks. Physical Education will be incorporated into the Summer School schedule.

For students in grades K-5, fee-based Panther Pride child care will be offered (before and after school care and/or Friday, as needed).

Middle School July Session

Students in grades 6-8 will attend class from 7:25 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Ray-Pec High School. The four-week Summer School is structured with two-week (eight-day) thematic units. A student may register for two weeks or four weeks. 

High School July Session

Summer School for students entering grades 9-12 is also scheduled from July 6 to 30 at Ray-Pec High School. However, there are some programming differences:

  • The majority of high school courses for credit will be five days per week. (Monday to Friday)

  • Hours for high school will be 7:25 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. 

  • High school enrichment courses will be four days per week. (Monday to Thursday)

  • There are options for students to take one or two courses for credit Monday through Friday. 

  • A student may enroll in an enrichment course during the morning Monday through Thursday.

Transportation

Morning and afternoon transportation is provided for all K-12 students, as needed. High School students attending morning only or afternoon only will need to arrange mid-day transportation.
