It was hard to say who was more excited - teachers or their students - to see the Foundation Prize Patrol arrive with giant checks to present grant awards.
"He's rich!" exclaimed a third grader after Teacher George Tombaugh (at right) received a grant of $496 to purchase science materials.
The Foundation's mission is to enhance educational opportunities for the benefit of students, staff, and the community. The Foundation invited staff to apply for grants of up to $500 to be used this year. Last fall, the Foundation awarded $5,940 in grants. This semester, the amount is over $10,000.
Led by Foundation Vice President Shauna Stephenson, Foundation Executive Director Jodie Huston, and Secretary/Treasurer Pam Steele, the group surprised staff members with presentations of over-sized checks on Jan. 31. Also participating in the prize patrol were these Foundation board members: Dr. Kari Monsees, Allison Bruflat, Dana Jermain, and Kim York. The Foundation invited Ray-Pec staff members to apply for grants of up to $500.
