RPHS to present comedy, 'The Nerd'

The Nerd

The Raymore-Peculiar High School Theatre Department presents the comedy, "The Nerd." Remaining performances of the show will be in the Academy Theatre at Ray-Pec High School at 7:30 p.m. April 13, and 14, and at 2:30 p.m. April 15.

The Nerd is a delightful comedy about an unassuming young architect named Willum Cubbert who unexpectedly is visited by Rick Steadman, a man Willum owes his life to but has never actually met. When Rick arrives, his outlandish behavior begins to wreak havoc on Willum’s life. Unable to tell Rick to leave because of the debt he feels he owes him, Willum must depend on his girlfriend Tansy and best friend Axel to help him survive Rick’s antics while not hurting his feelings. Written by the same playwright that wrote The Foreigner, The Nerd is one of the funniest plays to appear on Broadway in the last 30 years and has delighted audiences for decades with its sidesplitting comic inventiveness.

The cast includes Ian Van Horn as Willum Cubbert, Tiffany Wylde as Tansy McGinnis, Logan Daniels as Axel Hammond, Nate Thurman as Warnock Waldgrave, Angel Patterson as Clelia Waldgrave, Nick Hime as Thor Waldgrave, and Peter Dyreng as Rick Steadman.

Working behind the scenes are Dane Schnake as the director, Karla Penechar as the technical director, Peter Dyreng as the Scenic Designer, and Pam Schnake, Kay Connelly and Michael Connelly as production assistants. The assistant director for The Nerd is Matthew Stewart. The stage managers are Trevor Diepenbrock and Riley Linn. The master carpenters are Caden Maxwell, Trevor Diepenbrock, and Riley Linn. The master electrician is Caden Maxwell. The sound designer is Nick Hime and the sound engineer is Ella Schnake. The Lighting Designer is Riley Linn. Props masters are Molly Loman and Zach Scott.

Tickets may be reserved by calling the box office line, 892-3999, extension 2400. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students. Free child care will be provided.
