Board recognizes Special Olympics basketball teams

1st place 3 on 3 Wolves image

The School Board on April 26 recognized the success of the District's Special Olympics basketball teams at the state tournament. Due to schedule conflicts, many of the students were unable to attend the Board meeting. Here is a complete list of the honorees:

3rd place - Bronze! Team Skills. Owen Vaughan (4th grade athlete), Mallory Anderson (4th grade athlete), Sabrina Peek (6th grade athlete), Sara Poe (graduated athlete), and Grant Ewigman (7th grade athlete).

2nd place - Silver! 3 on 3 Unified Panthers Team. Emrie Ianniello (11th grade Unified Partner/Volunteer), Emma Gudenkauf (10th grade athlete), Kayla Hughes (11th grade Unified Partner/Volunteer), Josh Hill (8th grade athlete), Tyler Williams (10th grade athlete), and Shawn Courtney (10th grade athlete).

1st place - Gold! 3 on 3 Unified Wolves Team. Grant Hornbeck (6th grade Unified Partner/Volunteer), Olivia Burton (8th grade Unified Partner/Volunteer), Armon Davis (7th grade athlete), J’Qwan Blackman (6th grade athlete), Dorico Hilliard (8th grade Unified Partner/Volunteer), and Jag Davis (6th grade athlete)

1st Place - Gold! 3 on 3 Unified Super Senior Team:
Alex Sutton (graduated athlete), Tristan Holmes-Dye (12th grade athlete), Zach Anderson (9th grade Unified Partner/Volunteer), Ethan Ankrom (graduated athlete), Ashley Lindsay (graduated athlete), Desray Yarger (11th grade Unified Partner/Volunteer), Alyssa Woodward (11th grade Unified Partner/Volunteer).

The teams are coached by Teachers Cara Hornbeck, Catie Howlett, and Emma Howlett.
