The School Board on April 26 approved hiring Scott Dobson as Director of Facilities, effective July 2.Dobson has been the Maintenance Supervisor for the District since the 2015-2016 school year. Previously, he was an electrician in the Buildings and Grounds Department. He first came to work for the District in 2008.The Director of Facilities position had been unfilled for several years, after the District made several personnel changes to stretch financial and human resources. With the recent construction of new facilities and renovation of existing buildings, the District Administration recommended that the position be re-instated to help manage the expanded workload in the Buildings and Grounds Department."Scott is the perfect person for this position because of his knowledge, experience, and commitment to the community," said Dr. Bryan Pettengill, Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services.Dobson is a 2006 graduate of Ray-Pec High School. He earned an associate's degree in construction management in 2008 and is certified as a master electrician. He was named the Ray-Pec Support Staff Employee of the Year in 2014. His wife, Rebecca Dobson, also a Ray-Pec grad, is a teacher at Raymore Elementary. His mother, Mary Dobson, retired as a library media specialist at Ray-Pec High School. His father, Larry Dobson, had a long career in education which included serving a a teacher, counselor, administrator, and School Board member at Ray-Pec.
