Members of Cass County Kids First met with legislators for breakfast on June 8 at the Archie School District
Legislators shared brief comments about the 2018 session, and then answered questions from those in attendance. Discussion included the topics of school funding, school calendars, reading, and assessment.
These legislators attended the event: Rep. Jack Bondon, R-56; Rep. Donna Pfautsch, R-33, and Sen. Ed Emery, R-31. Archie School Superintendent Jeff Kramer welcomed the group, and Jerry Miller, Belton School Board Member, moderated the event.
Ray-Pec School Board Members in attendance were Ruth Johnson, Susan Edmonsond, and Billy King.
Cass County Kids First includes Board of Education members and administrators from all of the county’s public school districts.
This was the fourth year for the school districts to come together as “Cass County Kids First” to share concerns and endorse a list of legislative priorities. The legislative priorities are organized in four categories of funding, local control, accountability, and student transfers. The group plans to reconvene next year.
