Ray-Pec High School forensics and debate results

Varsity forensics

The Ray-Pec Forensics and Debate Team went to Blue Springs Oct. 12-13 for the opening tournament of the season.

Ray-Pec finished in 1st place in forensics at the 24-school Blue Springs Varsity Tournament. Results were as follows: In Dramatic Interpretation, Tevin Chavez placed 1st and Alissa House placed 5th. In Humorous Interpretation, Ian Van Horn placed 2nd and Dalton Apel placed 5th. In Program Oral Interpretation, Ella Schnake placed 1st. In Duo Interpretation, Spencer Barr and Denton Meehan placed 4th. In Storytelling, Ella Schnake placed 2nd. In Champ Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Julie Garibay placed 3rd. In Policy Debate, Jaden Lanza and Brenden Lucas placed 4th.

At the Blue Springs South Novice tournament, Ray-Pec placed first in the overall competition. Results were as follows: In Dramatic Interpretation, Grace O'Brien placed 1st and Olivia Burton placed 2nd. In Humorous Interpretation, Paige Showen placed 1st, Aidan Martel placed 3rd, and Connor Midgley placed 6th. In Prose, Cole Blankenship placed 1st, Blake Oser placed 2nd, Tara Thomas placed 3rd, and Jared Dosch placed 4th. In Poetry, Paige Showen placed 1st and Ashlyn Hamblin placed 5th. In Duo Interpretation, Meredith Herrell and Ashlyn Hamblin placed 5th. In Storytelling, Aidan Martel placed 2nd, and Madison Busby placed 3rd. In Oratory, Olivia Burton placed 1st. In Extemp Speaking, Colby Stosberg placed 5th. In Policy Debate, Audrey Huffman and Layla Swenson placed 2nd and Aidan Martel and Mike Viermann placed 4th.
