Congratulations to rising RPHS Senior Kerstin Randolph on completing her Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting (comparable to the Eagle Scout Award).
Kerstin has been in Girl Scouts for 12 years and is a member of Troop 1701. Her Gold Award addressed the need for the community to be better educated about pollinators, like bees. Using resources including social media and community events, Kerstin spread her message and was able to get more than 800 community members to commit to at least one life change that will benefit pollinators in their environment.
Kerstin won a youth scholarship from the Midwestern Beekeepers Association where she was given a hive of bees to raise, and went on to become the 2019 Missouri State Jr. Beekeeper of the Year for her work on the project.
Kerstin is an IB Diploma Candidate with three academic letters. She is involved in Forensics and Debate, competing at the conference, district, and state levels. She has been involved in Ray-Pec theatre productions on stage and behind the scenes. Recently re-elected, she will serve her fourth term this fall as a 2021 class representative on Student Senate. Additionally, she is a member of the National Honor Society and HOSA. She has been a Kansas City Zoo VolunTeen since the summer of 2017, giving more than 400 hours of service.
