Congratulations to Ashley Rowland, 9th grade English Language Arts Teacher at Ray-Pec High School, on being selected as one of Missouri's Outstanding Beginning Teachers!
Every two years, the Missouri Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (MACTE) honors exemplary new teachers across the state for their work with Missouri’s youth. Avila University and Ray-Pec High School nominated Ashley to receive this honor.
Ashley's nomination included comments such as, "We believe that Ashley is one of our most talented alumni, and has been doing an outstanding job as an English teacher.... at Ray-Pec High School."
Another comment was, "Simply stated, Ashley was born to be a teacher. She has the energy, the drive, and the passion to help every single student in her classroom. I am amazed at her ability to make every student feel special."
Finally, "Ashley is a teacher who very much cares for her students and understands that there is far more to teaching than what takes place inside the four walls of her classroom. She eagerly supports her students in being risk-takers, and she is very adept at providing descriptive feedback to her students to which they can easily relate and utilize for their success moving forward. Clearly, this year has been one of the most challenging years I have ever witnessed in the field of education due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Ashley has never missed a beat with her students, and she has been a stable, positive influence for them."
The Outstanding Beginning Teacher awardees were congratulated at the MACTE Spring Conference (March 8-10) during the President’s remarks. Rowland also received an invitation to attend the virtual Spring Conference as an honored guest.
