The Ray-Pec High School boys soccer team this fall raised $2,000 to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer. The team donated the money to Cancer Action, a non-profit agency offering programs and services for persons with cancer.This was the team’s third year to raises funds for cancer awareness. Fundraising efforts included the sale of cancer awareness t-shirts and the raffling of gift baskets at halftime. Ray-Pec also donated the gate receipts from the Sept. 19 game, which was designated as Cancer Awareness Night.At its Sept. 19 game against Lee’s Summit North, the players wore purple jerseys to represent the battle against pancreatic cancer.
