1. I'm considering a move to the area. Where can I find information about your district?

2. How do I register my children for school and what information do I need to bring with me?

When enrolling your child in the school district for the first time, please bring the following:

A state certified birth certificate
The child's social security card
Current immunization record
1 current proofs of residency
Custody paper (if applicable)
Please contact the individual school(s) for more information

3. How do I know which school my children will attend?

Please call the Administrative Services Center at (816) 892-1300 for information.

4. How will I know if school is cancelled or let out early?

Local television and radio stations will be notified and an alert will be posted on the district home page. The district's phone system will also call each home with a message. Subscribers to the RP Update email and text message services will receive notifications. You may also call 892-3988 to hear a recorded message.

5. When does school start/end? What days are students off? When is ____ happening?

The District Calendar covers events common to every school, and each individual school has events of their own they highlight on their home and/or calendar pages.

6. How can I obtain a copy of my school transcript?

Please contact the office of the high school at 816-892-1400.

7. When I visit a school, what is the proper procedure?

For safety and security reasons, always sign in at the front office when you visit a school.

8. How can I find out about athletic events?

9. May I attend meetings of the Board of Education?

Board meetings are open to the public, except those held under closed session. For location and times visit our Board Meetings page. 10. How can I find out about jobs in the Raymore-Peculiar School District?

11. What do I need to do to become a substitute teacher?

To be eligible for a substitute position, you must have 60 college credit hours (no exceptions). Stop by our Administration Support Center and speak with Human Resources to pick up an application packet and get further details. DESE Sub Certification Information

1. How do I contact the superintendent?

Superintendent Dr. Jeff Kyle has an office in the Administrative Services Center. You may write a letter (P.O. Box 789, Peculiar, MO 64078), send an email, or call his secretary, Pam Steele, at (816) 892-1311 to leave a message.

2. Who serves on the superintendent's cabinet?

The Superintendent's Cabinet includes Superintendent Dr. Jeff Kyle and three assistant superintendents:

• Dr. Kevin Daniel, Instruction and Student Achievement
• Jay Harris, Management Services
• Dr. Terri Jamison, Human Resources

In addition, Director of Finance Kendra Hutsell and Communication Director Michele Donahoe also serve on the cabinet.

1. When are school board members elected?

Board members are elected each April. There are seven members on the school board. They serve three-year terms. Each year, two or three of the seats are up for election.

2. When does the school board meet?

The school board has a regularly-scheduled business meeting at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the Administrative Services Center. Additional meetings are scheduled as needed.

3. How can I find out what happens at school board meetings?

Child Nutrition

1. My child said she cannot bring cupcakes to school on her birthday. Why not?

In an effort to meet with state and federal guidelines for wellness and healthy eating, and to encourage health eating habits among students and staff, the district has adopted an approved snack list. When a student is bringing a snack to share, it must come from the approved snack list. You can obtain a copy from your school office. (Note: There are a few dates during the school year when students may bring snacks that are not on the approved list.)

2. What are the prices for meals?

3. How can I pay for my child's meals?

You may pay online using a credit or debit card through our Online Meal Payment.

You may send cash or a check made payable to Ray-Pec Schools to the kitchen manager at your child's school. You may also send cash or a check with your child to school.

Early Childhood

1. Who is eligible to attend Early Childhood classes?

Raymore-Peculiar residents who are 4 by July 31st and have had limited or no previous preschool experience are eligible to attend Early Childhood classes. Students are eligible to attend Early Childhood the year before they enroll for Kindergarten.

2. How do I register or enroll my child for Early Childhood?

Registration for the program typically begins in May. Parents/Guardians are requested to call on a specific date to schedule an appointment to register their child. Appointments will only be made over the phone; you do not need to come in person to make the registration appointment.

3. How much does the program cost?

We are pleased to offer a tuition free program. Field trip, snack or supply fee may occur at a minimal fee.

1. How do I know which bus my child will ride?

3. Is there an application form to request use of a school facility?

Yes. The form is interactive, which means you can complete it online and then submit the form electronically.

1. Who is the coordinator of Health and Wellness?

Kate Zeysing. She is located at the Administrave Services Center and can be reached at kzeysing@raypec.k12.mo.us or 892-1315.
The Raymore-Peculiar School District places a high level of importance on the health and well-being of staff. In her third year with the District, Kate Zeysing serves as our Employee Health & Wellness Program Coordinator. As a Health Promotion expert, Kate will provide 12 hours of service each week to bring a variety of health and wellness initiatives on-site. These initiatives include an annual biometric health screening; nutrition and fitness challenges, incentive programs, and seminars; stress management opportunities, and more.

2. What if my child needs medication during the school day?

Please have your healthcare provider complete the Medication Consent Form. Then submit the form to your child's health room.

3. What health screenings do the schools conduct?

Schools may screen students at particular grade levels for vision, hearing and lice. Sometimes, there are dental screenings as well.

1. Will the Ray-Pec School District accept paper applications?

The school district will only accept online applications. If you do not have access to a computer, please visit our Administrative Services Center at 21005 S. School Road, Peculiar, MO 64078 to complete an online application.

2. How do I begin the online application process?

To begin the process you can either click on the applicant job search link or the employment application link on the "Work for Ray-Pec" webpage. The application process can also be accessed from the current job openings and employement application quick links on the "Human Resources" webpage. Should you have any difficulty beginning this process, please contact our office at 816-892-1321.

3. Is it necessary to fill out an online application if I am a current employee but wish to apply for a new position?

Yes, at this time we are asking current employees to complete the online application if they wish to apply for a different position.

4. Is it necessary to complete an online application if I have worked for the district in the past?

Yes, it is required that you fill out an online application even if you have worked for the district previously.

5. Do I need to complete an online application if I previously submitted a paper one?

Yes, everyone should complete the online application process.

6. Can I apply for a job opening that is not currently posted?

Yes, you can either apply for a job that has a current opening or for a job that may become open in the future. After beginning the application process, you will be asked to select jobs for which you are interested. You may select one type of position or many types of positions. You will NOT have to complete a separate application for each position.

7. How can I make changes or additions to my application?

While filling out your application, you will provide an e-mail address and password. If you wish to save the application and return to it later, click SAVE AS DRAFT at the bottom of the application page. To come back to the application, click the link EMPLOYMENT AT RAY-PEC and then EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION and click 'log in."

8. I receive an error when trying to upload my resume and cover letter into my online application. What should I do?

Check that your documents are the correct type. The file that you are trying to upload must be saved in one of the following formats: .doc, .docx, .rtf, .pdf, .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .pgn, or .tif in order to be uploaded into your online application.

9. How do I know if the Ray-Pec School District has received my online application?

Once you have completed the steps to create an application and applied for a position vacancy, you will receive an automatic e-mail confirming that your application has been received.

10. Once I have completed my online application and chosen my position vacancies, what happens next?

When the position vacancy closes, Human Resources will review the applications and forward the information to the hiring supervisor for the position. If selected for an interview, the hiring department will call you to set up the interview date and time.

11. When does a job posting close that states "open until filled"?

If the job posting states "open until filled," the posting will close at the time a job offer is extended and accepted.

12. I received an email stating my online application is incomplete. How do I know what is missing?

The Ray-Pec School District cannot consider incomplete applications. Log on to your online application and review each page for completeness. After careful review of your application, click the button FINISH AND SUBMIT. Follow the directions to finalize your online application.

13. Should I contact the principal or department supervisor regarding a position?

It is not recommended that you contact the principal or hiring manager directly regarding a position. You do not need to send them a copy of your resume, transcripts, etc. Once you have completed the online application, hiring managers can view your application and supporting documents.

2. Why don't students take a weekly spelling test?

The Ray-Pec School District believes that students learn to spell through a balanced approach to reading and writing. Read more by selecting the curriculum for any grade level (K-6).

3. Who decides what teachers will do on inservice days?

Professional development opportunities are important for teachers and other staff. Some activities are planned by the school's Building Leadership Team, including the principal. These activities help the staff work toward specific goals in that school. Other professional development activities are planned at the district level by the Professional Development Committee and district leaders.

Public School Foundation

The Foundation is a non-profit organization separate from the School District. The Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization, and has its own Board of Directors.

2. Where does the Foundation get its money?

The Foundation receives funds through private donations, through the software purchase program and through the Major Saver discount card sale.

3. How do I donate to the Foundation?

1. What grade levels are served at the Academy?

The Academy serves students in grades 9-12.

2. How can my child attend the Academy?

To be considered, your student must first pick up an application at the High School Counseling Office. Parent and student must complete the appropriate forms and submit them to the High School Counselor for Administrative review. The High School will forward the forms to the Academy. When openings are available, an interview will be conducted with applicants and their families.

The school day begins at 7:20 a.m. and ends at 2:20 p.m. Ray-Pec Freshman Center operates on a block schedule.

2. When I visit the Freshman Center, what is the proper procedure?

For safety and security reasons, always sign in at the front office when you visit a school.

3. Can I use my cell phone or IPod during school?

Students are discouraged but not prohibited from bringing these aritcles to school. However, upon entering the building, these devices must be turned off. Students are NOT permitted to use cell phones or music/audio equipment at any time in the building during the school day. Any student who disrupts the educational environment with said items will have the item confiscated and returned only to parent(s). Any violation is subject to penalties.

4. Student car rider pick up/drop off procedures.

Car riders may be picked up or dropped off in the front of the FC building (facing School Road). The traffic flow runs one way from south to north.

5. Dress code.

Any article of clothing, jewelry or personal appearance that may be determined disruptive to good school climate, or represents an organization or group that promotes hate, violence, discrimination or attracts undue attention that may become a disruptive factor in the educational process will be subject to disciplinary consequences. This includes but is not limited to sagging pants or visible undergarments, holes in pants above the knee, shorts with less than a 5" inseam, hats, spaghetti strap shirts or exposed midriff, pajamas or slippers.

6. ID Badges

As a matter of school safety, students are required to wear their ID badges at all times. Badges should be visible and unaltered. Students without badges may be subject to disciplinary action. Students without a badge may obtain a temporary badge in the Library for 25 cents PRIOR to the start of school with no consequences. Replacement badges can also be obtained in the Library prior to the start of school.

7. Tutoring

Before school tutoring is available from 6:20 - 7:10 daily. After school tutoring is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 - 4:00. After school tutoring is not offered on early release days.
