On my email signature, there is a link to a calendar of what we are doing in the classroom from day to day in both English II and Advanced English II.

I started my teaching career in 2008 at Raytown High School, and I have been teaching at Ray-Pec High School since 2015. I have taught various courses at the secondary level; however, I have been teaching English II and Advanced English II for the past three years.

Since I have been teaching here, I have been using Google Classroom as an organizational tool for myself, students, and for parents.  Google Classroom is an easy to use online website that allows students to join the class online where they are able to access assignments, resources, and a calendar of important events for their class.  Through Google Classroom, I am also able to communicate with students outside of class time and give feedback to students on their assignments. If a parent wants to join their student’s Google Classroom, they need to ask the teacher for permission and you will be added as a guardian.

Although feedback can be given on Google Classroom, grades for every teacher at Ray-Pec can been seen for students through SIS: https://sdm.sisk12.com/RP360/apphost/TylerSis#/login.

English II Course Description:

English II is a survey course that covers a wide array of literature and writing assignments.  The class will read novels, plays, short stories, poetry, and various forms of non-fiction. The students will also complete grammar and vocabulary activities focusing primarily on improving reading and writing skills. EOC and ACT will be a major component of practice. Independent reading will be required and assessed.
