Ray-Pec 5th grader wins Cass County Spelling Bee

Spelling Bee winners 4

Congratulations to Ray-Pec's Mac Northcraft on winning the Cass County Spelling Bee!
Mac, a 5th grader at Creekmoor Elementary School, won the Bee by spelling the word "guess." He has qualified to compete in the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee. Mac also received a trophy, a spelling bee tumbler, and a $50 Visa gift card from UMB.
Landon Kunsch, an 8th grader from Belton, was the runner-up. Landon received a trophy and a $25 Visa gift card from UMB.
This year, the national Bee will conduct all rounds, except the finals, virtually. If Mac advances to the finals, he will receive an expense-paid trip to Orlando, Fla., for the final competition.
The pronouncer for today's Spelling Bee was Joyce Webb, a retired library media specialist in the Ray-Pec School District. The judges were Cass County Treasurer Steve Cheslik, Cass County Collector Chris Molendorp, and Cass County Commissioner Bob Huston.
Thanks to the Peculiar Charitable Foundation and the Rotary Club of Harrisonville for donations toward the Cass County Spelling Bee.
