Cristin Blunt to be new assistant principal at RPEMS

Cristin Blunt 2021

Cristin Blunt will be the assistant principal at Ray-Pec East Middle School, effective in July. The Ray-Pec School Board approved the hiring at its April 29 meeting.

She is currently an administrative intern in the Hickman Mills School District.

Blunt said she is excited to come to Ray-Pec.

"The Ray-Pec community shines,” she said. “I have close friends, family, and church members who live and work in Ray-Pec, and it is clear that this is a close-knit community that values success and pride.”

Dr. Al Voelker, Assistant Superintendent for Academic Services, said “We are excited for Cristin to join our school community. She brings a passion for student success and a wealth of knowledge to our district.”

Blunt earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with an emphasis in English Language Arts from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She earned a master’s degree in education from Baker University. She received her education specialist degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Previously, she was an instructional coach in the Grandview School District, a high school English teacher in the Shawnee Mission School District, and an English teacher for grades 8-12 in the Hickman Mills School District.

Blunt lives in Kansas City with her husband, Jeremy, who works for the Raytown School District.

She joins the East Middle School administrative team led by Principal Katie Campbell. Assistant Principal Stacy Johnson will continue in a dual role, also serving as administrator of the Virtual Instruction Program of Ray-Pec (VIPR). Blunt replaces Alexis Stark, who is leaving Ray-Pec at the end of the 2020-2021 school year for a position in another district. Stark’s position of Administrative Intern was reclassified as Assistant Principal at the March School Board meeting.
