English 4 students at Ray-Pec Academy are surrounded by nearly 1,000 food items donated last week.

The students, working with Teacher Jennifer Ramirez, planned and implemented a service learning project called “Olaf’s Week of Sharing.” They partnered with the elementary schools to collect non-perishable food items and monetary donations to purchase books.

It took 1.5 box trucks and two vans to pick up all of the donations for delivery to the Academy. Food will be distributed through the Ray-Pec Caring About Nutrition program. Each elementary school will receive about $60 to purchase new books.
