Rebecca Kolkmeier will be the new principal at Eagle Glen Elementary School, effective in July. The Ray-Pec School Board approved the hiring at its Feb. 22 meeting.
She is currently the administrative intern at Bridle Ridge and Raymore elementary schools. She has held this position since July 2020. For the 2019-2020 school year, she was the administrative intern at Eagle Glen and Raymore elementary schools. Kolkmeier was Summer School Principal in 2020 at Raymore Elementary School and in 2021 at Peculiar Elementary School.
Before coming to Ray-Pec, Kolkmeier was an assistant principal for two years at Bridger Middle School in Independence. Previously, she was an instructional coach in the Independence School District and an elementary teacher in the Independence School District.
Kolkmeier said she is honored to be coming back to the Eagle Glen family.
“I am excited to reconnect with the students, staff and families, and to impact every student by ensuring they have the opportunity to learn and grow to their fullest potential,” she said. “Eagle Glen and the Ray-Pec School District set high expectations for all learners, and I look forward to serving alongside this team to continue their legacy of excellence.”
Director of Elementary Education Dr. Michelle Hofmann said that Kolkmeier is excited to serve the team at Eagle Glen and together build upon the foundation of excellence established by current Principal Robin Jones and her staff.
“It was clear to us that Mrs. Kolkmeier values relationships with the staff, students, and families she serves, demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills, and possesses a strength in instructional leadership,” Hofmann said. “She has provided strong, positive leadership working with a variety of teams and schools in our district over the past three years in her various administrative roles.”
Kolkmeier earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Missouri. She earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from MU, and received her education specialist degree from the University of Central Missouri.
Kolkmeier and her husband, Justin, live in Lee’s Summit with their two children: Westin (8) and Alison (5).
She will replace Robin Jones, who is retiring at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Jones said that she is bittersweet about leaving, but knows that the school is in good hands with Kolkmeier.
