Canvas Groups & Collaborations

Canvas groups and collaborations leverage collaborative technology to allow multiple users to work together on the same document at the same time. Collaborative documents are saved in real-time, meaning a change made by any of its users will be immediately visible to everyone. Groups are a small version of a course and used as a collaborative tool where students can work together on group projects and assignments.

Teachers Creating Groups in Canvas

Setting up Groups in Canvas begins with the teacher creating a new group set and specifying how the groups should be organized in the people tab of their course menu.

See the video for details on setting up the new group.

Students Using Collaborations in Canvas

Students can interact with all of their Canvas groups from the groups button on the Canvas global menu. This navigation allows students to go directly to the group or collaboration without navigating through each course.

See the video for details on how students will be able to use groups and collaborations in Canvas.
