Raymore-Peculiar High School To Present Shrek the Musical

The Raymore-Peculiar High School Fine Arts Department is pleased to announce its production of the musical comedy Shrek the Musical.  Performances of the show will be in the Ray-Pec High School Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 1, Feb. 2, and Feb. 3; and at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 4.

Shrek the Musical is the hit musical based on the hugely popular, Oscar-winning Dreamworks Animation film.  The show took Broadway by storm and had audiences howling with laughter.  Ray-Pec Theatre is proud to perform this highly entertaining show.  The musical centers on the grumpy, oversized green ogre with the heroic heart and brings the beloved characters from the film to life on stage.  As Shrek’s peaceful swamp is overrun by fairy tale characters banished from the kingdom of Duloc, Shrek discovers he needs to find a more heroic side to himself to confront the evil Lord Farquaad and fight for the rights of the fairy tale creatures.  Along the way he meets Fiona, the love of his life and Donkey, a true friend, and realizes a solitary life isn’t all that he thought it was.  This Tony Award-winning musical with a book by David Lindsey-Abaire and catchy new songs by Jeanine Tesori is irreverent fun for the whole family. 

The cast includes Amy Robinson as Mama Ogre, Jordan Kim as Papa Ogre, Judah Maple Parman as Young Shrek, Mason Rew as King Harold, Avery Monnig as Queen Lillian, Ruslana Trpkosh as Young Fiona, Audrey Shepard as Shrek, Eli Showen as Pinocchio, Aurora Lautzenhiser as Wicked Witch, Makail Cull as Peter Pan, Kaedyn Blede as the Big Bad Wolf, Keegan Hahs, Isaiah Cox, and Ellie Barker as the Three Little Pigs, Audrey Mitchell as Mama Bear, Ian Haneberg as Papa Bear, Addi Kyle as Baby Bear, Reagan Sheedy as Gingy/Sugar Plum Fairy, Bryson Burkhart as Mad Hatter, Sav Jordan as Fairy Godmother, Kyan Roth as Lord Farquaad, Jillian Fairchild as Teen Fiona, Jillian Collom as Fiona, Devin Fisher as Donkey, Ember Davis, Elizabeth Burton, and Amari Russell as the Dragon, Elijah O’Brien as Captain of the Guard, Jaelin Willis-Hull as Pied Piper, Destinee Shaffer, Annaliese Busse, and EmyJa Sanders as the Three Blind Mice, Ben Herrell as the Dwarf, Wyatt Rust as the Bishop. The cast also features the talents of Charlotte Barber,  Annaly Bain-Rowland, Makenna Copeland, Vanessa Diaz, Kennedy Hembree, Tre Hill, Ethan Hunziker, Addi Kesler, Deja Lindly, Mia Mikulicz, Aurora Orstad, Brenna Simpson, Noah Tuttle, Jada Abioye, Rachel Belshe, Bre Bennion, Delaney Burk, Gracie Chambers, Jaxson Fines, Alex Gawron, Shyanne Hammer, Madison Johnson, Tristen Johnson, Lydia Littlejohn, Josh Martin, Alex McDonald, Brooklyn Meloy, Irelynn Sloan, Cooper Sole, and Carter Younger.  

Working behind the scenes are Teacher Dane Schnake as the director, Teacher Stephen Rew as the Music Director, Teacher Adam Segura and Patron Michael Connelly as Technical Directors, and Teacher Carma Richey, Patron Kay Connelly, and Teacher Jayme Overstreet as production assistants. The scenic designer is Avery Monnig. The lighting designer is Emma Browning.  The assistant directors for Shrek the Musical are Students Alex Gawron, Ellie McRill, and Alex Moore.  The stage manager is Katrina Tilawen with assistance from Jaxson Anderson. The sound engineers are Ellie McRill and Louise Gregg.  Props are overseen by Hailey Feagins with assistance by Sophie Dick. The costume, hair and make-up crew is headed up by Riley Crisler and Alex Moore.
