Kelly Schoolcraft

Kelly Schoolcraft will join Ray-Pec as an Elementary Administrative Intern, effective in July. The Ray-Pec School Board approved the hiring at its March 21 meeting.

Schoolcraft comes to Ray-Pec from the Raytown School District, where she has been an Instructional Coach and Title Reading Teacher since 2017. Earlier, she taught kindergarten, first, and third grade for 13 years in the Raytown School District.

Schoolcraft said the District’s Strategic Plan is one component that attracted her to Ray-Pec.

“I'm very excited to collaborate with others through this plan," she said. "Additionally, I look forward to helping students grow academically, socially and emotionally as an instructional leader alongside my coworkers.”

Dr. Michelle Hofmann, Director of Elementary Education, said that Schoolcraft brings extensive experience supporting students and staff with research-based practices, including her notable leadership with the science of reading.

“She has spent many years implementing multi-tiered systems of support and a data-based approach to decision-making,” Hofmann said. “We believe she will make a wonderful addition to our elementary team as an admin intern.”

The District reviews student data and building needs to determine which schools are supported by an administrative intern. Decisions about which schools Schoolcraft will support are pending.

Schoolcraft received her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Missouri State University. She earned a certificate in special reading from the University of Phoenix in 2019. She is currently working toward her master’s degree in administration through the University of Central Missouri.

She will replace Courtney Graham, who is resigning at the end of this school year to accept a an administrative position in another school district.

Schoolcraft and her husband live in Lee’s Summit with their 17-year-old son. They enjoy visiting their 25-year-old daughter and 5-year-old granddaughter as much as possible.
