The Raymore-Peculiar School District Board of Education recognized several exceptional staff members and students during its March meeting, celebrating achievements in education, leadership, and student success.
Among those honored was Raymore-Peculiar High School student Nathanial Gibbs, recipient of the Distinguished Student Leader Award from the Missouri Association of Student Councils. This honor highlights students who show outstanding leadership, service, and commitment to their school community. Gibbs has been actively involved in a wide range of activities, including Swimming, Tennis, Scholar Bowl, Student Senate, National Honor Society, HOSA, and more. His leadership and dedication have helped foster a positive and inclusive environment at the high school.
In addition, Clara Otta was honored for being selected as a DECA District 3 Leadership Delegate. This prestigious role recognizes students who demonstrate strong leadership and commitment to their organization. Otta will represent District 3 at both the state and international levels, marking a significant milestone as the first Ray-Pec student to earn this distinction in more than 25 years.
The board also recognized Grace Abercrombie, who was named the 2026 New Teacher of the Year by the Missouri Educators of Family and Consumer Sciences and Human Services (MoEFCS). The award is presented annually to an early-career educator who has demonstrated excellence in curriculum development and student engagement through Career and Technical Education programs. Abercrombie was recognized for her innovation, leadership, and dedication to empowering students through Family and Consumer Sciences education.
The Board also recognized the Raymore-Peculiar Academy team as a 2026 recipient of the Outstanding Professional Learning Team Award from Missouri Learning Forward. This award celebrates teams that demonstrate exceptional collaboration and a strong impact on student learning. The Academy team was selected following a rigorous review process and was recognized for measurable academic growth among students, including improvements in GPA and NWEA assessment results. Their success reflects a shared commitment to high-quality instruction, professional growth, and student achievement.
