Staff Spotlight is back with another episode!
This time around we are highlighting our new Ray-Pec High School principal, Scott Bacon. He served as Deputy Principal last year, learning the ropes from Steven Miller, before taking the reins for the 2023-24 school year. In our conversation Mr. Bacon details his time on the Kansas side, what drew him to Ray-Pec, and his belief that all of our staff have a responsibility to #dreammakers for our students.

Mrs. Brock teaches her students fun games to aid them in learning rhythm, singing, and memorization skills! One more way we're bringing arts into education.

This morning the LEAD Center hosted the Peculiar Chamber of Commerce Third Friday Coffees event this morning . Their support of our Real World Learning efforts is vital in our efforts to truly be a #schoolofchoice for our students.
Shoutout to Wells Family Homestead for catering!

On Thursday night the School Board recognized Student Elizabeth Burton. Elizabeth, an incoming junior at Ray-Pec High School, is the first student in the schoolโs history to be selected for the All-State Jazz Choir. She is pictured with Board Member Billy King.
The All-State Jazz Choir performed at the Missouri Choral Directors Association conference in July in Springfield, Mo. Students had to audition to be selected to participate in each of the honor choirs. Ray-Pec had many students participate in the summer honor choirs, but Elizabeth is the first from our district to be selected for the All-State Jazz Choir. ๐ถ

Just a few construction updates to start the morning. The PAC walls continue to go up and the Raymore Elementary School playground is nearing completion! ๐ท

Today the Raymore-Peculiar Public School Foundation delivered snacks to every school in the district to help welcome staff back to work. Thank you for all that you do! ๐๐ฅฐ

We kicked off the 2023-24 school year with a bang this morning! ๐ฅ All Ray-Pec staff filled the high school gym for convocation and to celebrate the beginning of another wonderful school year.
"This morning, our celebration is all about the dreams of our students. Students are coming to us wanting to have a successful and meaningful life. Thatโs our mission. And thatโs their dream. It is our job to make that dream possible. All of us, and I mean anyone in this room employed or in an elected leadership role of the Ray-Pec School District, has the duty to deliver on or support the mission of our school district. Everyone. Our theme for this year is that we are all 'Dreammakers.'"
At the end of the ceremony Superintendent, Dr. Mike Slagle, asked all staff who were committed to being "Dreammakers" for students to stand. What a scene. ๐ค๐

The first walls of the new Performing Arts Center are in place. Only 110 more to go! ๐ทโโ๏ธ

๐ฃ Please join us in welcoming all of the new teachers to the Ray-Pec School District! ๐ฃ
This week all teachers that are either new to the district or new to the profession gathered at the LEAD Center to network and get the 411 on all things Ray-Pec.

New elementary teachers spent their day experiencing hands-on learning like their students during Project Lead the Way Launch training. PLTW Launch is a program the district uses for science instruction in elementary classrooms.

A new school year calls for some new ways to follow everything going on around the Ray-Pec School District. There are โจ๐ต๐
๐๐ฉ๐ ๐ฉ๐ธ๐ฒโจ Facebook and Instagram accounts for both Ray-Pec High School and the Ray-Pec Ninth Grade Center.
Be sure to give them a follow for updates and information about the exciting things going on a each building. We're very proud of the students and staff around the district and we want to do a better job of telling their stories.

The School Board on Thursday night recognized Bethany Woodson-Roth, a special education teacher at Raymore Elementary School, for going above and beyond and being a special influence in a student's life. She is pictured with Board Member Carol Barnes, at right.
During the 2014-15 school year (Bethany's first year teaching special education and her first at Ray-Pec), she spent much time helping a student academically and socially. At the end of the year, she promised him that she would attend his high school graduation. Although the student later moved to Tennessee, Bethany kept that promise. In May, she drove to Tennessee to be there as he graduated.

One more day of playground equipment installation at Raymore Elementary!
Surface work starts next week but you may notice the overhead power lines being removed this week.

Ray-Pec is committed to data-driven decision making.
Our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a framework designed to meet the unique needs of all learners through data-based problem solving and decision making.
MTSS is practiced across all levels of education and is designed to help our schools identify struggling students early and to intervene quickly. Driven by student progress data collection, this approach prompts intervention for those who fall behind โ and aligns both academic standards and behavioral expectations to enable every child to reach their fullest potential.
Thatโs our #RayPecCommitment

Real World Learning and early career exploration are just some of the ways the Raymore-Peculiar School District is becoming a School of Choice.
Today Bobbi Bond, owner of Baked by Bobbi, stopped by with her cookie truck to let students decorate and eat some of her delicious cookies while they discussed ways that they could help her expand her business. Business partners like Bobbi are an invaluable resource to our students.
Thanks Bobbi! ๐ช
